Invented a more accurate method of gene editing

Scientists at Yale University reported on the creation of a more accurate and effective technology for editing the genome of living organisms. The new method allows you to get rid of the shortcomings of modern technologies, including - CRISPR / Cas9.

"The existing technology can be compared to a saw, and this method - with a scalpel that allows you to make precise genetic changes with high efficiency in a lot of places in the eukaryote genome," says Farren Isaacs.

Modern gene-editing technologies, for example, CRISPR / Cas9, usually break two DNA strands when when genetic changes are being implemented. In order to repair the chain, the body makes efforts that can be lethal for the cell. However, sometimes these gaps remain unresolved or create tiny errors in the DNA sequence that change their functions.
